Monstrology Creatures List #4 – Treants, Pigs and Gobblers

http://ift.tt/2sEklyb

Monstrology Creatures List #4

This post’s sole purpose is to collect and display the data of every Gobbler, Treant and Pig available in Monstrology. Therefore, the creatures below can have their animus captured through ‘Extract Gobbler’, ‘Extract Pig’ and ‘Extract Treant’. The guide is organized by world, then by the creature’s name in alphabetical order. Additionally, each monster’s name has been color coded so you can know which spell to use on them. The colors are as you can see below.

Extract Gobbler

Extract Pig

Extract Treant

If you’d like to learn more about Monstrology, our introduction article can be found here! Additionally, you can download a spreadsheet or list with data about all the currently discovered creatures. It will serve as a checklist to quickly see which creatures you have or are still missing. As soon as there are any updates to the game, the changes will be added to the list, however you will need to download it again.

Monstrology Tome

Note: An updated version with ALL creatures will soon be available for download. The above only has Undead, Wyrm, Parrot and Polar Bear animus creatures. Big thanks to Kelsey Fireheart for contributing in the search for the creatures.

Fantastic Voyage Gauntlet – Wizard101

http://ift.tt/2sR9MH9

Fantastic Voyage Gauntlet

Another bundle has just made an appearance in Wizard101, the Fantastic Voyage Gauntlet! As part of this fantastic gift card you will find the Fantastic Voyage Expedition dungeon, which is something that every Master Angler will want! Additionally, this bundle hasn’t been officially announced by Kingsisle yet, but it is starting to appear in some stores, including Walmart. Big thanks to Tasha for letting us view the bundle and sharing images from her Twitter page.

Overall the bundle provides you with:

  • Fantastic Voyage Expedition
  • Shark Skirunner Mount
  • Peppy Porpoise pet
  • Abyssal Warrior’s Suit
  • Abyssal Eel Whip
  • 5000 crowns or 1 month membership

Peppy Porpoise

Fantastic Voyage Gauntlet

The first ever dolphin pet in the Spiral, and isn’t it adorable? Very well done, Kingsisle, you did it again! The talents are still a mystery, so please don’t hesitate to post any findings in the comments section below.

Shark Skirunner Mount

Another mount with a 50% boost! This time around, it’s not like any vehicle you might imagine, but is instead a fierce shark. Don’t get too close to it’s mouth, trust me.

Abyssal Warrior’s Suit

The gear comes from any level (0) to level 120. Additionally, it has a couple of spells that are worthy of a mention, Double Cleanse Charm, Double Steal Ward, and Dragonlance, which are all brand new to the game.

Abyssal Eel Whip

Unlike any other May Cast wand we’ve seen before, this one has not one, but 2 different and useful spells. Also, it’s worthy to mention that Healing Current is cast as an ice spell.

Fantastic Voyage Expedition

This brand new dungeon will send you on a marvelous adventure in search for a mysterious fish. How mysterious? It hasn’t even been fond yet…

You will face a total of 4 battles with some very mystical creatures as you can see below. Small tip, you might want to carry Shatter with you when fighting Dewey as shields are most likely to be spammed.

As a very neat addition, after completing the dungeon you will be awarded a fishing luck elixir that gives +33% fishing luck. On top of that, you will be able to fish in the dungeon itself. That’s right! A brand new feature that allows us to fish in dungeons.

Fantastic Voyage Gauntlet

Are you looking forward to obtaining this brand new bundle?

Don’t wait any longer and head to Walmart right now!

Chess Based Turn System: Winners and Losers(Max Lvl 1v1)

http://ift.tt/2szVtvg

Chess Based Turn System: Max Lvl 1v1 Winners and Losers

A chess based turn has come to Wizard 101 test realm. As such, many of the spells and tactics we are used to in the current turn system are in for some major upheaval. This article will examine some of the changes to different classes of spells that will be affected by the change. Note that this article will not go into specific spells that will be affected by this change (with a few exceptions). Instead, it will look at the types of spells. Without further ado, let us take a look.

Winners

Winners in the new turn system are spells which will benefit greatly from the change in tempo and playstyle that will result in the upcoming chess based system.

Shadow Creatures

Shadow Creatures have already been buffed by being made to trigger in 2 rounds and by dealing their max potential damage regardless of how many likes you have accumulated. This new turn system further buffs shadow enhanced spells. It allows the caster to immediately counter any nonreactive measure while the shadow creature still activates in between rounds before the opponent can react! This means that there is no reason for a shadow creature to be unbuffed barring multiple shields, shadow shields or direct removal spells(such as earthquake or enfeeble)

Low Pip DoTs

In an era where you can immediately place a shield before an opponent attacks, low pip dots are set to shine. They allow continuous pressure and shield removal while being triage bait and leaving key openings for the caster to exploit.

Heals

Heals are set to make a big comeback in the chess based turn system. One of the biggest risks of healing in the aggro meta was losing tempo from an ineffective heal or heal cast when not attacked. By allowing instant reactivity- a player always knows when it is safe to heal and can thus counter most damage spells accordingly.

Special Note: Angels: This turn system does buff the angel strategy a bit as well since they now have perfect reactivity and instantly know when to heal. However, this is counterbalanced by the fact that Angels will now have a harder time both maintaining bubble control and causing huge tempo swings with shields.

Removal/Steal Spells

Spells such as disarm, steal charm, steal ward and enfeeble are going to be in great demand. Thanks to the resurgence in heals, trying for an OHKO or combo will become more mainstream and as such blades will become more common. Since the turn system allows instant reaction to blades/traps- removal and steal spells are easier to use and the caster does not run the risk of wasting a round on a used blade. The meta is still fast enough that only one or 2 blades will be used at most (barring blade-stacking strats and/or the death school) but it’s no doubt that removal spells will play a bigger role than they have before.

Combo Spells

Spells that achieve more than one thing in a round will be at a premium this meta. Both sides having perfect reactivity means that battles often become a tit for tat type deal where a move is instantly countered. Spells such as loremaster, fire beetle and the like make it harder for your opponent to perfectly counter your moves while also potentially leaving openings for you to exploit.

Special Note: Mana Burn: Mana burn’s ability to simultaneously damage the opponent and remove their pips already makes it a potent spell. However, in the upcoming meta mana burn will become even more powerful due to the turn mechanics. Now mana burn will remove three pips at all times from first and second without allowing opponents to cast a spell at the same time or to “waste” mana burn by using their pips on the round they are burned. This makes mana burn one of the best counter moves and combo moves in the upcoming meta.

Stuns/Accuracy Debuffs

One of the few ways to guarantee an open shot on the opponent in the upcoming meta is to ensure that they cannot counter your moves. As such-stuns and accuracy debuffs will become more and more important as ways to create an increasingly elusive opening in your opponent’s defense.

Shields

By allowing both competitors the ability to play before the opponent- shields will become more popular as ways to counter potential incoming damage. Due to the fact that an opponent can instantly react to shields by removing them-this will lead to people packing more shields in deck. This tit for tat will continue until one of the competitors can force an opening.

Reactive Spells

Spells that react to other spells are in for a buff due to the turn system mechanics. Triage, shift, cooldown, snowdrift, supernova etc (which are only effective when another spell is cast) can now be used to their full, devastating effect.

Minions

In a meta where counters can instantly occur- any option that offers you an extra move in a round is a good one. That is where minions come in. Acting as shield breakers, disruptors and combo setters they offer quite a bit of utility. Even the round your opponent spends taking them out is a free round for you so they will often be a good investment. Finally, as this meta will heavily rely on resource management- a minion can help you win the resource war for free (breaking your enemy’s shields so you don’t have to for example).

Losers

High Pip DoTs

Thanks to the ability to instantly react from any position, high pip DoTs are about to take a severe nerf. High pip DoTs represent a significant investment in both pip cost and set-up. However, with the ability to instantly react with triage or shift, high pip DoTs will offer a risk that will often not be worth the investment.

“Gotcha” Spells

Spells that relied on “gotcha” mechanics from first such as bad juju or shatter were nerfed in that capacity. No longer will bad juju offer a complete tempo swing from first and shatter will no longer lead to a surprise OHKO. However, both spells can still be used in other capacities-as a stall for bad juju and as a stacked shield remover for shatter.

Special Note: Burning Rampage: Burning Rampage took a heavy nerf as a gotcha spell. No longer can it be used as an unblockable combo from first and a guaranteed damage spike. However, with a little creativity, it can still be a useful spell. Use it when the fire minion is using a DoT or use it to force an opening or put your opponent in an awkward spot. Ex- will your opponent triage the rampage and leave themselves open to a hit?

Dispels

In the most obvious nerf this update: dispels became a lot less effective, With an automatic dispel shield after being cast as well as a confirmed spell to be trained- it looks like simply spamming dispel until a shadow pip appears is a thing of the past. This update will still see dispel spam due to cloaked dispel bypassing the new countermeasures, however, as soon as that is fixed dispels as a staple will become a thing of the past.

Beguile in the New Turn Based System

http://ift.tt/2uuj1OM

Beguile in the New Turn Based System
A view from a Different Perspective

Different spells are going to work differently with the new turn based system. Some won’t be as useful as they used to be, others will gain in their power. Today, we’ll check Beguile and the applications the new system will bring to the spell.

Overall, Beguile isn’t as strong as it used to be anymore. We all loved it when opponent used Storm Lord on their own team mates or healed our team with Rebirth. Such a luxury won’t exist anymore, so we’ll need to find other uses for this fantastic spell.

Beguile in the New Turn Based System

Actions and Reactions

In the regular system, Beguile was the strongest when used in team play when starting first. Opponents weren’t able to react to our actions, which made Beguile a force to be reckoned with. Using it from second was still interesting, since the spell ends in the middle of the round. This meant the  opponent would still hit their own teammates, while you’d manage to hit both of them with an AOE attack.

But non of this works anymore in the new system. Opponents can always react to you casting it and free passes aren’t available anymore. All of this makes Beguile a situational spell. It’s much weaker than it used to be, but it still has its uses.

Treat it Like a Stun Spell

Casting Beguile will prevent opponents hostile actions for 2 rounds. While it doesn’t work exactly like a stun, since they can still blade up or shield, it will prevent them from attacking you. You get 2 extra rounds to find shields, fortifies and stun blocks. You get extra time to set up your defences.

Using an AoE DoT (or just a regular DoT if you’re focusing on one opponent) before beguiling is one nice move. That way you prevent them from shielding (only with towers and DoT school spells though), which may leave your team a nice opponing once Beguile ends.

Mechanics in 1v1

1v1 PvP is where things get interesting. That’s where the situation is completely different than it is in team PvP. Beguile received a huge buff in this department because now it consists of the old system’s pro’s of going first and second.

If you beguiled when going first, then you had the luxury of reacting to your opponent’s moves (most importantly – shrike), but it lasted only one round. S/he was on your team for 2 turns, but a single hit still went through if they used it the same round as you beguiled them.

If you beguiled when going second, your enemy couldn’t attack you for 2 rounds, but you weren’t able to react to Shrike. However, with the new turn based system, you’re able to react to your opponent’s Shrike + lock him out for 2 rounds!

True power

All of this already sounds really good, but there’s more. Locking your opponent out of Shrike for 2 rounds already sounds good, but it’s quite easy to improve this. We can completely lock them out of Shrike AND even use this method for a sneaky attack!

By casting Beguile, you and your opponent become teammates for 2 turns. But that’s not the truth – you two are actually friends for 1,5 half turn. What does this mean? The first turn after Beguile, you can’t do anything hostile to each other. While neither of you can choose to attack each other the second turn, you can still land on your opponent. This can be bypassed by using AoE attack (e.g. lulu). Since you don’t need to click on your opponent, the spell will still go through and hit them.

Lock your Opponent Out of Shrike

We already described how an AoE can be used while your opponent is beguiled. The same logic apply to AoE negative charms and stuns. You can use Beguile right after your opponent shriked and finish by casting AoE stun (if they don’t have stun shields) to prevent them from doing anything.

If they have stun shields, you can try your luck with Smoke Screen or simply lay Virulent Plague on top of their head. But by far best and safest thing to do is to use Beguile in combination with Bad Juju (that’s of course if you don’t have too many blades up). Instead of starting with Beguile, place a bad juju on your opponent and follow with Beguile. All these methods burn a lot of pips, but at the end the are still very effective mechanisms.

Watch Out for Reversed Turn Order

Yes, this is still a thing. Sometimes the game decides to swap the turn order after casting beguile. Which sounds weird and doesn’t really fit into a chess system. But when it happens, you will basicly have a next turn after the Beguile and your opponent will have 2 turns in a row when the Beguile effect ends. Which is bad since, with the reversed turn order, it is them who can land a sneaky AoE attack at the end.

A: Beguile

B: Friendly round (can still land single hit, if it’s chosen)

Current Bug with Beguile

Right now, there’s a bug in test realm when Beguile is casted in 1v1. Basically it reverts the turn system to how it was before; both you and your opponent choose a spell and then both spells are cast. This is not a big deal because it will most likely get fixed and you can see what they’re choosing anyway.

A more important question is, what effect will the fix have on Beguile mechanics. Will it still allow us to use AoE spells at the end of its duration or not?

Wizard101 Test Realm Summer 2017 – PvP Changes, Avalon Fishing, Chat Improvements, and More!

http://ift.tt/2tOxtkp

Kicking off the official start of summer, KingsIsle left us with quite the surprise.. another update has hit the Wizard101 Test Realm! Come take a look what’s in the Summer Update!

NOTE: For a full list of changes – go HERE.

PvP Changes

To start things off – we have some PvP Changes! There are now daily assignments specifically for PvP – which give tickets and gold, and every 5th day – you will get a chest, containing new item and old favorites (including lore spells potentially!)

Additionally – to solve with the boosting problem, users will no longer face the same opponent for a certain amount of time after battling them!

PVP ONLY – There is now a dispel shield! After using a dispel, users will now get a stun block shield representing a dispel block! Note: If you use a spell such as Elemental Defuse (a spell that leaves more than one dispel), only one dispel shield will be put on you.

Finally, a new tournament mode – similar to Pirate101’s PvP system! Player 1 will take a turn, and then Player 2 takes theirs, eliminating the “second turn” issue. As a result of all these changes, a new age of PvP will be brought forth – welcome the 4th Age!

Chat Changes

The biggest section of changes, the menu chat system has gotten a whole revamp in the Wizard101 Test Realm – with many more fun and strategic phrases added! You also now have a favorites option – where you can save 20 of your favorite phrases!

There are also now emojis in-game! Click the round face on the right side of the chat window to bring up the window for these emojis. All players (even muted) can use these, and there a wide range of them, with the plan to add even more in the future!

Finally – there are now chat channels including a new Friend one! In this one, you can invite all your friends into it, and have your own group chat (similar to guild chats in other games). To invite friends, click on a friend’s name in your friend’s list, and then click the invite to friend chat button – next to your friend’s portrait in your friends list). Also, you can choose whether your friend channel is public (friends can invite their friends) or private (only people you have added can join!).

Just as a little note – there are a bunch of specific notes related to the various parts of these chat changes (how friend channels get reset after ever weekly maintenance, which one you log into when you get on, etc. etc.) so make sure to read the patch notes for a full run-down on that.

Monstrology

3 new types of monstrology are ready for eager monster hunters to gain! You can find Burke in Colossus Boulevard, Wysteria, and Grizzleheim to gain spells to hunt Treants, Pigs, and Gobblers!

Several non-repeatable creatures were removed from the tome – listed as followed:

  • Death Incarnate
  • Ghastly Spectre
  • Osseus Nightreaver
  • Eke Chuah
  • Tolkemec
  • Crypt Watchguard
  • Wanadi Black Sky

Tutorial Tip Log

A new tutorial tip log is available – located on the right side of your quest log, it simply keeps a log of all the tutorial tips for you to go back on if you were needing to do so! The categories are as followed:

  • Warning—Tips that warn the player (low mana is one example they used)
  • Quest—Tips that are related to quests.
  • School—Tips that are related to spell or pet school quests.
  • Tutorial—Tips that explain how something is used.

Avalon Fishing

Fishing has expanded into the land of mythical dragons and goblins – Avalon! New fish and new quests await all thee interested – and even a new spell!

And as always – many more changes with this test realm, bug fixes, and smaller changes. For a full list of changes, make sure to read the full list of patch notes, link is at the top of the article!

What is your favorite update in this Wizard101 test realm? Comment down below!

A Complete Guide to Training Points (TPS)

http://ift.tt/2tdnvcD

Complete Guide To Training Points (TPS)

guide to training points

Are you new to the game, starting a new character or preparing to head into PvP? Have you heard about the new changes coming to the PvP arena and want to prepare? Chances are you’ll need to grab all the training points (tps) you can get. Well not to fear, Duelist 101 is here with an updated guide to all the tps available in the game! This guide will not only give you the complete list of tps available in game but will also tell you how each one can be acquired with links to guides for all those pesky scavenger hunt points. Happy collecting, spellcasters! (P.S- Check out our updated Training Point Calculator for even more fun with Training Points)

What is a Training Point?

In a nutshell, a training point is a type of currency that allows you to train spells that are not naturally learned from your instructors or  via questing. These spells are known as “off-school” spells since they come from schools outside of your area of focus. Tps are very helpful in both PvP (ex. Tower Shield) and PvE (ex: enhancements such as Epic).

How can I Acquire Training Points?

Tps are acquired in 2 main ways. Naturally via leveling up or by completing certain quests which reward training points. Wizards acquire 1 training point every 4 levels until level 20. Beyond level 20 wizards acquire tps every 5 levels. At the current max level (Lvl 120)- A wizard can acquire a total of 54 training points from training point quests (29 training points) and achieving max lvl (25 training points).

How do I Spend Training Points?

Training Points allow you to train any off school spell at a number of trainers hidden throughout the spiral. Each spell trained costs 1 guide to training pointstraining point. Choose wisely! After a training point is used it can only be refunded for crowns from Mr. Lincoln in Golem Court. Once you refund your tps, you lose all spells that you have trained with these points.  The crowns cost varies with the number of training points you are attempting to recover (a refund of the first 3 tps is free) with a cost of 350 crowns per training point beyond the initial 3. Do note that the refund is all or nothing meaning you will always have to refund all of your training points when purchasing from Mr. Lincoln. This can be quite expensive at the higher levels. However, if you are a subscribing member KI occasionally offers a member benefit allowing you to recover your tps for free. If you have a lot of tps that you want to be refunded then it may be a good idea to wait for this benefit before heading to Mr. Lincoln.

Quest Training Points(29 training points total)

Prospector Zeke’s Quests

Prospector Zeke is the most familiar way to collect training points. Prospector Zeke offers 1 training point per world (with the exception of Khyrsalis which offers 2 training points from Zeke). Zeke’s quests typically involve finding different items hidden throughout each respective world. You can currently acquire a total of 16 training points from Prospector Zeke’s quests. Click on the links below for a complete guide to the locations in each world. (Fun Fact: The items collected in each world are named after real life bands)

Main Worlds

Side Worlds

Eloise Merryweather’s Quests

Prospector Zeke’s wife is usually found beside her husband offering her services for a few crowns or some gold. However, in the last three worlds, she has become more generous- offering us training points for completing her very own scavenger hunts. You can currently acquire 3 training points from Eloise. Click on each link below for a complete guide.

Wizard City Quest

The Wizard City Mainline quest offers 1 training point for your wizard after completing the quest “Enrollment”. This quest is mainline and very early in the game so it’s almost guaranteed you will automatically receive this training point.

Celestia Quests

These Celestia sidequests offer some of the easiest training points that can be acquired in game. Odgen Peak will offer you these quests at lvl 52 (“The Special”), 54 (“Me and my Arrow”) and 56 (“Time for Tea”) respectively once you have completed the previous quest in the chain. The tasks are fairly simple such as talking to someone, acquiring some pet snacks (easily purchased at the bazaar) and crafting a tea set. This quest chain offers 3 training points for your use.

Zafaria Quests

Inyanga Whitestripes, the resident witchdoctor has more to offer your wizard than hoodoo. He also has 2 training points to offer. His relatively easy quests: “Mane of Terror” and “Relative Dimensions” will have your wizard ready to earn a duo of spells in no time.

Avalon Quests

The illustrious Francis Lux has an offer you cannot refuse! He offers 1 defeat and collect quest called “The Art of Magic.” along with 2 scavenger hunting quests. This comes up to a total of 3 training points for your wizard.

Click on the links below for a complete guide to the scavenger hunt quests.

Khyrsalis Quest
