Recommended Gear for Level 100 Wizards
Gearing up for PvP can be one of the more difficult and confusing situations for a Wizard. At level 100, there are so many different pieces and combinations that it can be a little overwhelming for the average player.
Below, Duelist Author Blaze Raven has compiled a list of the gear he recommends for each school at level 100. We at Duelist often mention that your gear should compliment your strategy, so the gear you need may be different from what we list below. That said, if you have absolutely no idea where to go or what to wear to get you up and running, this guide can help you get started.
Fire
Decent critical, resist, pips, and pierce.
Solid damage, good resist, and amazing accuracy, topped off with a bit of critical and extra block.
Nice damage and block with a bit of accuracy.
Decent critical, block, and pierce, plus a Stun item card.
Nice universal damage and healing boost.
Nice universal damage and healing boost.
Quick heals, Life Dispel, and other possible utilities, such as Luminous Weaver.
A wonderful starting pip.
Recommended Pet and Talents:
Rain Beetle
Spell-Proof, Spell-Defy, Fairy Friend/Spritely, Pain-Giver, and Fire-Dealer
These talents should provide you with extra resist and more damage reach so you don’t need to rely on critical for kills.
The set provides high offensive stats and sufficient accuracy for an aggressive playstyle, while having enough resist and block to fall back down to a slower tempo match if need be. You should also land some criticals on the glass cannon style builds.
Ice
Decent critical, good resist, and pips.
Solid resist, extra Fire and Storm resist.
Decent block, good resist, accuracy, and a Snow Drift item card.
Decent critical, block, and pierce.
Decent universal damage and healing boost.
Decent universal damage and healing boost.
Quick heals, Life Dispel, and other possible utilities, such as Luminous Weaver.
A lovely starting pip.
Recommended Pet and Talents:
Rain Beetle
Spell-Proof, Spell-Defy, Fairy, Pain-Giver, Ice-Dealer
This set of talents should top off your amazing universal resist, and give you extra damage reach, which can be crucial even as an Ice.
The setup provides enough resist and block to carry out a slower tempo match, or you can opt for a more aggressive strategy. Overall, the build gives you multiple ways to play it.
Storm
Decent critical, pips, pierce, and resist.
Nice damage, decent critical, good resist, pierce, and pips.
Decent block, nice damage, accuracy, and resist.
Decent critical and block, nice pierce.
Decent universal damage and healing boost.
Decent universal damage and healing boost.
Pierce, critical and block, resist, and a Threefold Fever.
Who wouldn’t want that pip?
Recommended Pet and Talents:
Rain Beetle
Spell-Proof, Spell-Defying, Pain-Giver, Storm-Giver, and Storm-Dealer
Provides extra damage.. so you hit even harder.
Overall, this provides enough damage, critical, and pierce to hold a fast tempo match, as expected of a Storm. The resist and block are sufficient enough to slow down the match a bit if need be, but you’re Storm; how slow will it really get? Accuracy is a bit iffy, but Infallible makes up for it.
Balance
Decent critical, decent resist, decent pips, and some pierce.
Okay critical, decent resist, decent pips, decent damage, and some pierce.
Decent block, great damage, okay resist, and some accuracy.
Decent critical and block, with decent pierce.
Decent universal damage and healing boost.
Decent universal damage and healing boost.
Quick Dooms for heal suppression and other misc. utilities, such as Virulent Plague and Bad Juju TC.
The pip. Need I say more?
Recommended Pet and Talents:
Rain Beetle
Spell-Proof, Spell-Defying, Pain-Giver, Add Balance, and Balance-Dealer
Provides an extra offensive boost.
This setup provides solid damage, pierce, and critical for a faster tempo match as befits Balance, and there’s enough block and resist to fall back on in case you need to slow it down. Accuracy may be iffy, but Infallible should make up for it. And to top it off, the Death Mastery gives you quick Dooms, Sacrifice, and even some off-school capability.
Life
Decent critical, resist, decent pips, and pierce.
Okay critical, decent resist, decent pips, pierce, and okay damage.
Decent block, resist, solid damage, and some accuracy.
Decent critical, decent block, decent pierce.
Decent universal damage and healing boost.
Decent universal damage and healing boost.
2 pip bubble, Medusa, Shatter, and Earth.
That starting pip.
Recommended Pet and Talents:
Rain Beetle
Spell-Proof, Spell-Defying, Pain-Giver, Life-Dealer, and Fairy Friend/Spritely.
This gives an extra damage boost, welcomed resist, and a chance of clearing those pesky dispels.
More than sufficient damage, resist, critical, block, and accuracy to play the match at a fast, balanced, or slower tempo, depending on the need. Your critical is high enough to regularly critical your heals, your resist and block are sufficient enough to play more slowly, and, of course, that damage means you hit hard. The Myth Mastery allows the use of Medusa for a 2 round stun and Shrike counter, ToL for a 2 pip bubble, and Earth/Aftershock for any bladestacking opponents.
Death
Decent critical, decent pips, pierce, and damage.
Solid resist, okay critical, decent damage, decent pips, and pierce.
Decent block, resist, solid damage, and some accuracy.
Decent critical, decent block, decent pierce.
Decent universal damage and healing boost.
Decent universal damage and healing boost.
Loremaster, fast Reshuffle, Availing Hands, Balance Dispel, and an off-school minion killer.
The starting pip.
Recommended Pet and Talents:
Flamenco Tocador
Spell-Proof, Spell-Defying, Pain-Giver, Death-Dealer, and Fairy Friend/Spritely.
This pet provides an extra damage boost, more resist, and a chance of being healed.
The setup gives you more than enough damage and critical to play an aggressive strategy, while allowing you to play a more balanced or slower tempo match. Accuracy may be a bit lacking, but Infallible makes up for that. The Balance Mastery provides you with the capability to run a smaller deck and use Fast Reshuffle, or use off-school hits and heals, such as Loremaster and Availing Hands.
Myth
Solid resist, decent critical, decent pips, some pierce, and some damage.
Solid resist, solid damage, solid accuracy, decent critical, and extra Life/Death block.
Decent block, okay resist, solid damage, and some accuracy.
Decent critical, decent block, decent pierce.
Decent universal damage and healing boost.
Decent universal damage and healing boost.
Satyr and other quick heals, Life Dispel, and Luminous Weaver.
The pip, of course.
Recommended Pet and Talents:
Rain Beetle
Spell-Proof, Spell-Defying, Pain-Giver, Myth-Dealer, and Fairy Friend/Spritely.
Extra resist, damage, and a heal.
The setup allows for a diverse style of play. You have enough damage to mount a highly effective offensive approach, enough resist, block, and resources to slow the pace down, as well as perfect accuracy. Combine this with Myth’s tools and you have a highly effective and efficient build built for all styles of play.
