Wizard101 Main Quest Line: Part 2

wizard101 main quest line spiral

Questing is fun, isn’t it!? All those worlds to explore and save, those people to help and talk to, and monsters to defeat. But… dare I say… it gets a little tedious sometimes. Just a little bit!

This guide is meant to give you courage while questing. By following the quests in this guide, you can see exactly how many more collect and defeat (C&D) quests you still have before you can move on to the next area. I hope this guide will help you keep going, as you see the list of quests get shorter and shorter with every step you take.

This is part 2, Celestia to…

For part 1 (Wizard City –> Dragonspyre, click here)

Just like in part 1, I’m only listing the main quest line quests, aka storyline quests, which means the ones you have to do in order to get to the next area. Side quests are not mentioned. For each world, I list the quests you have to do in a certain area. The areas are listed in the order you should do them in (unless otherwise specified). The area is not always one hundred percent correct, as certain quests can require you to run back and forward between areas to talk to people. To simplify matters, I have not listed this kind of running; the quest will say “talk” but not where the NPC is located. Also, if there is only one quest in an area, I will not mention the area seperately. Between brackets are the different parts of the quest, as sometimes a quest will require you to do multiple things.

I have divided the quests in the Spiral into the following groups:

  • Talk: Quests that require an interaction with an NPC.
  • Mob: Quests that require the defeat of regular monsters.
  • D&C: Quests that require the collection of something from certain monsters (Defeat and Collect).
  • Boss: Quests that require the defeat of a boss. Elite monsters are not counted as bosses.
  • Cheat: Quests the require the defeat of a cheating boss.
  • Instance: Quests that require the completion of a dungeon.
  • Puzzle: Quests that require the solution to a puzzle.
  • Interact: Quests that require interaction with certain objects.
  • Explore: Quests that just require you to run towards a certain area, NPC or item.

Warning: I made this with the help of the awesome Wizard101 Wiki, which doesn’t always list every single battle, because they’re not added in the quest description. I’ve gone and checked places where I was pretty sure there were additional mob fights (like in Big Ben), but there are other ones missing. Next time I quest from zero to hero, I will update this guide.

12 Days of Fishmas Pick a Fish

http://ift.tt/1QsGyXf

Shadowfishy is back with some more holiday goodies for you! In 12 Days of Fishmas, my fishy friends and I have set up a little contest for you.

For 12 days, my fishy friends will appear below. Your job is to send an email to morgrim.shadowfist@duelist101.com  any time during the 12 days with 6 of the following fish below. You do not have to catch the fish in game. Just send me the names of my fishy friends in an email (eg. Bonnie Springfish, Sonny the Sun Ray, Biff Boss Hog, Lockjaw(s), Tanya Tongue Fish, Velma Von Vampire Squid). Each of the fish have a corresponding ‘point value’ associated with them. The entries with the highest scores win, with time sent being a factor as well (the earlier entries receive priority in cases of ties).

Here’s the catch. Each day, a fish’s point score will be revealed. For example, Sonny the Sun Ray might be worth 4 points. But every other fish might be worth 5+. You won’t know their relative scores unless you wait longer. So it’s up to you whether you want to wait it out and have a better chance at a higher score, or take a chance and send in an entry earlier without caring about the score. Good luck fishers! Here are your potential prizes:

1st Place:

  • 10,000 Crowns
  • W101 Reindeer Sleigh Mount
  • W101 Polar Fox pet
  • 1 Random School Jewel Pack
  • 1 Dragonclaw Blade

  • 1 Random School Jewel Pack
  • 1 Dragonclaw Blade

4th Place and 5th Place:

Community Christmas Clash

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J

The holiday season is fast upon us. Young wizards everywhere will soon be playing without much fuss. Your community has found some festive things to do. How about some PvP battles, made for two? Join in the Christmas PvP Clash. You could win crowns in a flash! Make your way to the top of the ladder. Your pockets may become that much fatter! With zany PvP modes for you to explore, you’ll have to play by new rules… What might be in store? Join us on December 29th and 30th to have some fun. Unhappy souls, there will be none!

The Community sponsored Christmas Clash PvP Tournament is upon us. Sign up today and you may be picked as one of our 64 contestants to play in this clash. Here’s how the tournament works:

In each round, you will face off against one other competitor in a 1v1. Ideally, these should be two max level 110 wizards. These matches will be supervised by one of our referees, and the winner will move up the bracket, closer to our grand prize matches. HOWEVER. And this is where the fun starts. In each round (best of 64, best of 32, best of 16 etc), a new ruleset will be put in play. This means that your regular 1v1 strategies might not work. For example, you might have to only use death spells to kill your enemy, or you might have to get a minion to do all your work for you. Be prepared for anything! Who knows what we’re going to throw at you.

Now you might be interested in what prizes we’re offering. The rewards are great! For the top 8 players, you’ll gain a ton of prizes:

Grand Prize (1st Place):

  • 73,750 crowns ($105 worth!)
  • 1 Fog Staff Code
  • a Drawing of your wizard made by the Twitter Wizard101 community (Twizards) very own @GoddessofChibis

2nd Place- 4th Place

  • 1 Polarian Explorer’s Bundle
  • 1 Fog Staff Code

5th Place- 8th Place

  • 1,000 Crowns
  • 1 Polar Fox Code
  • A drawing of your wizard made by the Twizard community very own @C9Cinnaroll

And there are more prizes to be handed out! All participants in the Christmas Clash who attend all their matches will be given a Dragonclaw Blade! There may be a few other prizes given away in the STREAMS.

Streams! This is our main focus for the tournament. Many matches will be streamed on Twitch and will be shoutcasted by select members of the community for your listening pleasure! Interested in some play by play commentary or our shoutcasters’ thoughts on potential strategies? Tune in to any of the matches being streamed.

All of this could not be possible without the community support. Big thanks to @man0fbass (Slothman) and Shadowfishy (Dustin) for organizing the event, as well as these wonderful community members for their complete support:

  • Duelist101
  • Stars of the Spiral
  • Frostcaller
  • The Untold Spiral
  • Adventures of the Spiral
  • Spiral Radio
  • BlazeLifehammer
  • ZenmasterBlue
  • and to CrusaderKyle, Mozyy(Josh), our Twizard artists Yillian and Lexi, techboy (Ryan), Meta, Panlifelord, Soloin, MegaMikeyy and Dese, along with all the volunteer referees.

We hope you can join us in celebrating the holidays in a truly wacky, magical way.

For complete information and sign ups, please visit [ http://ift.tt/21s773X ]

Please note: We are currently looking for trusted members to become referees. If you are interested, send us a Referee Signup application (Follow the link above and look on the left side) and we will get back to you. If you are chosen, you will not be eligible to play in the tournament.

Wizard101 Rasputin Farming – 4 Rounds

http://ift.tt/1NWslgo

the-rat

Wizard101 Rasputin Farming – 4 Rounds

Rasputin is the only source of some of the best gear in Polaris (check out our Rasputin gear guide if you’d like to to see for yourself!).

We wanted to share a 4-round approach that we’ve found effective.  We buff a hitter to take out Rasputin on round 4 while another wizard takes out the minions in the second round.  It’s worked consistently and doesn’t require a lot of concentration.

If you discover other effective strategies, please let us know in the comments!

Team

  • Crowd-of-3-WizardsThe hitter can be any school except balance, assuming they have sufficient damage and pierce (more below).  You actually can use balance if you want, although you’ll need at least one extra buff which may require an extra round.
  • At least one wizard, which we’ll call the Minion Killa, must have over 5% pierce (ideally over 20% pierce) and a 4-pip AoE.  It’s helpful if this wizard is a different school than the hitter.
  • At least one wizard must have elemental or spirit blades trained (depending on the school of the hitter).  This can be the same wizard as the Minion Killa.  Ideally two wizards have them trained.
  • That’s it!

Hitter Damage Boost and Pierce

kevinator-no-titleWe’ve listed the damage boost needed by the hitter below, assuming you use the 10 buffs listed later in the article.

If your hitter has more than 20% pierce, we assume you use a Colossal enchant.  Otherwise, we assume you will use an Unstoppable Treasure Card enchant for the 15% pierce.

If your hitter is under 20% pierce, you’ll nee extra damage to cover the difference (e.g., if their pierce is 17%, you’ll need to add 3% to the minimum damage boost listed).

Death Hitter Minimum Damage

Using Colossal enchant:

  • Dr. Von’s Monster – 36% with “Easy Cards” / 47% with “No TC”
  • Call of Khrulhu – 35% / 45%

Using Unstoppable Treasure Card enchant:

  • Dr. Von’s Monster – 82% with “Easy Cards” / 96% with “No TC”
  • Call of Khrulhu – 80% / 94%

Fire Hitter Minimum Damage

Using Colossal enchant:

  • Sun Serpent – 41% with “Easy Cards” / 52% with “No TC”
  • Raging Bull – 58% / 70%

Using Unstoppable Treasure Card enchant:

  • Sun Serpent – 84% with “Easy Cards” / 98% with “No TC”
  • Raging Bull – 114% / 130%

Ice Hitter Minimum Damage

Using Colossal enchant:

  • Lord of Winter – 22% with “Easy Cards” / 31% with “No TC”
  • Abominable Weaver – 22% / 31%
  • Snowball Barrage (10 pips) – 33% / 43%

Using Unstoppable Treasure Card enchant:

  • Lord of Winter – 57% with “Easy Cards” / 69% with “No TC”
  • Abominable Weaver – 57% / 69%
  • Snowball Barrage – 75% / 89%

Life Hitter Minimum Damage

Using Colossal enchant:

  • Gnomes! – 41% with “Easy Cards” / 52% with “No TC”
  • Hungry Caterpillar – 22% / 31%

Using Unstoppable Treasure Card enchant:

  • Gnomes! – 91% with “Easy Cards” / 106% with “No TC”
  • Hungry Caterpillar – 57% / 69%

Myth Hitter Minimum Damage

Using Colossal enchant:

  • Celestial Calendar – 23% with “Easy Cards” / 33% with “No TC”
  • Mystic Colossus – 43% / 55%

Using Unstoppable Treasure Card enchant:

  • Celestial Calendar – 55% with “Easy Cards” / 67% with “No TC”
  • Mystic Colossus – 88% / 103%

Storm Hitter Minimum Damage

Using Colossal enchant:

  • Sirens – 60% with “Easy Cards” / 72% with “No TC”
  • Glowbug – 33% / 43%
  • King Artorius – 33% / 43%

Using Unstoppable Treasure Card enchant:

  • Sirens – 110% with “Easy Cards” / 126% with “No TC”
  • Glowbug – 65% / 78%
  • King Artorius – 65% / 78%

Balance Hitter Minimum Damage

Using Colossal enchant:

  • Spectral Blast with 2 extra buffs (12 total) – 91% with “Easy Cards” / 106% with “No TC”
  • Nested Fury – 89% / 104%

Note: you must use Colossal, since the damage boosts needed are too high otherwise.

Elemental Blades - WCSpirit Blade - WCBuffs

You’ll need to buff the hitter 10 times.  We’ll use the term “tri-blades” to refer to elemental or spirit blades and “tri-traps” to refer to elemental or spirit traps.

There are many combinations of buffs you can use.

Hitter Buffs

For the hitter, we recommend:

  • Trained School Blade (30-40%)
  • Trained Sharp School Blade (40-50%)
  • Item School Blade (35-45%; given by various amulets)

“Easy Card” Buffs

For teammates, we’d recommend the following “Easy” cards:

  • Item Sharp Tri-Blade (45%; Jewel of the Apiary Amulet)
  • Trained Sharp Tri-Blade (45%)
  • Tri-Blade Treasure Card (40%)
  • Trained Tri-Balde (35%)
  • Item Tri-Blade (35%; Elemental – Amulet of the Mouse Scout; Spirit – Charm of the Fierce Mantis)
  • Balanceblade (30%; Jewel of the Apiary Amulet)
  • Item Tri-Trap or Tri-Trap Treasure Card (30%; Elemental – Locket of the Quiet One Amulet; Spirit – Charm of the Fierce Mantis)

Note that if your hitter is the same school as your Minion Killa, don’t use traps for buffs!

Other Buff Options

We’ve listed some other buff options below.  Our “No TC” minimum damages below assume you swap the Tri-Blade TC in the list above for a 30% buff.

  • Pet Sharp Tri-Blade (45%)
  • Pet Dragonblade (30%)
  • Potent Tri-Trap (35%)
  • Tri-Trap (25%)
  • Sharp or Item Sharp White Blades from Balance (30-35%)
  • Sharp Dark Pact (40%)

Note that if your hitter is the same school as your Minion Killa, don’t use traps for buffs!

Decks

Before the battle, we suggest that your team figure out which buffs each wizard will cast to ensure no overlap.

Hitter Deck

The hitter’s deck should have:

  • Hit that requires shadow pip (e.g., Glowbug for Storm)
  • Hit that doesn’t require a shadow pip (e.g., Sirens for Storm)
  • Colossal
  • 2 School Blades
  • 1 Sharpen Blade
  • 1 Item School Blade

Teammate Decks

The decks for the other wizards:

  • 3 agreed-upon buffs (Minon Killa can have 2)
  • Trained or TC feint
  • Pierce Treasure Card
  • Cleanse Charm Treasure Card
  • For Minion Killa: 2 4-pip AoEs (can be help to have another wizard with an AoE as a backup)
  • For Minion Killa: If pierce below 31%, 2 Unstoppable Treasure Cards
  • For Healer: trained or item “victory heal” card (since there are no health wisps at the sigil)

We didn’t use our pierce and cleanse charm cards much.

Strategy Details

On rounds when there are no minions, everyone should blade the hitter.

Meteor Strike - WCOn rounds when their are minions:

  • The Minion Killa should cast a 4-pip AoE to take out the minions (hence their incredibly creative name!)
  • Trap Rasputin if you have any traps “assigned” you
  • Otherwise, blade the hitter

For later turns, if the hitter is not in the first spot, someone before the hitter can feint on turn 4.  Otherwise, wizard in the last spot should feint on turn 3.

If anything goes wrong, your Minion Killa can cast a 4-pip AoE on round 4 and you can take out the Rat in a turn or two.

Here’s what it typically looks like turn-by-turn if things go well:

  • Round 1: Blade, blade, blade blade
  • Round 2: Trap, blade, blade, 4-pip AoE
  • Round 3: Blade, blade, blade, feint (can be cast round 4 too)
  • Round 4: Hit Rasputin and heal

 Strategy Alternatives

rasputin-close-upWe’ve found that a team can sometimes finish the battle in 3 rounds, if the team fits the criteria below and if the following conditions are true:

  • Minion Killa has at least 30%+ pierce
  • You use a potent feint
  • Your team has first turn
  • Your hitter is not in the first position

In this case, you’d make the following adjustments:

  • Minion Killa would buff turn 2
  • Hitter would hit on turn 3
  • Minion Killa (or someone) would hit with a 4-pip AoE turn 3 before the feint or after the hitter

We’ve typically preferred the 4-round approach since it’s a bit safer but these options can work if the conditions are right and nothing goes wrong…

Storm Hitter Criteria

The storm hitter must have at least 119% damage and hits with a Glowbug or King Artorius with a Colossal enchant.

Two Fire Wizards

The Fire hitter must have at least 86% damage and hits with an Efreet or Fire From Above with a Colossal enchant

The second Fire Wizard would use a backdraft on turn 2 or 3, resulting in at least a 90% backdraft.

Wizard101 2 Round Baba Yaga

http://ift.tt/1Xmw6pK

Wizard101 Baba Yaga Banner

Wizard 101’s newest update Polaris has been out for about a month now. With it came all new bosses, locales and more importantly for PvPers-gear to farm. Duelist 101 has identified the 2 best bosses to farm for gear: Baba Yaga and Rasputin. However, both bosses can be a challenge even for an experienced team and as such farming them may seem intimidating. Today’s guide will focus on how you can defeat Baba Yaga in 2 rounds leading to a smoother and faster farming experience.

Looking for the Baba Yaga Drop List? You can find it by clicking here.

Feint SpellThe Strategy: Simple Version

Feint Stack-GG

The Strategy Explained

While the above explanation may seem to be a joke, that is literally all there is to a successful run of Baba Yaga. Baba Yaga has no cheats that stop feint and her cheats don’t start until round 3. By defeating her in 2 rounds you negate the majority of the damage she can deal along with ignoring the majority of her utility. Here is all you need to pull off this strategy.

Person 1

Main Deck

Feint x 2, Potent Trap

Side Deck

Shatter

Person 2

Main Deck

Amulet Feint

Side Deck

TC Feint

Cleanse Charm

Person 3

Main Deck

Pet Feint, Amulet potent trap, Feint

Side Deck

N/A

Person 4 (Hitter)

Main Deck

One Main School Blade, One Sharpen Blade, One 5 or 6 pip hit, One 5 or 6 pip shadow hit, 2 colossal

Side Deck

N/A

Execution

Turn 1– Players 1-3 cast a feint of their choice while Player 4 casts a Sharpened Blade

Turn 2(Ideal)-Players 1-3 cast their other feint while Player 4 casts their attack.

Turn 2(Baba Yaga Shields the turn prior)-2 of the 3 Players cast feint while 1 Player casts Shatter. Player 4 casts their attack.

Turn 2(Baba Yaga Virulent Plagues the turn prior)-2 of the 3 Players cast feint while 1 Player casts Cleanse Charm. Player 4 casts their attack.

Alternatives

Only 3 different feints are needed turn one so if you cannot find 6 different feints don’t sweat it. Simply ensure each player has a different type of feint(TC, Regular and Potent) and a different type of blade for the hitter(TC, Regular and Sharpen Elemental/Spirit Blade). This will still lead to a successful 2 round kill scenario: Round 1-Feints, Round 2-Blades.

Recommended Spells for Hitters

The Great thing about this strategy is that it can work with any school’s hitter(myth school will require one person to replace feint with a myth convert). Here are the recommended spells per school Hitter.

Storm

Triton or Rusalka’s Wrath

Fire

Helephant or Fire From Above

Ice

Ice Colossus or Abominable Weaver

Myth

Ninja Pigs or Witch’s Housecall

Death

Skeletal Pirate or Winged Sorrow

Life

Centaur or Hungry Caterpillar

Balance

Judgement or Nested Fury

Things to Remember

Enter all at once with the hitter in the last position!- Unlike Rasputin you can choose when to enter Baba Yaga and in what order. Take full advantage of this. Players 1-3 can enter in whatever order they want but it is recommended you have Player 4 in the last position. An easy way I have found to get people in the circle on time is to have someone as the designated counter. it can be as simple as counting 3…2…1…Go or Ready…Set…Go. Whatever works to get your group in as a unit. This is particularly important as Baba Yaga’s tardiness cheat of Polymorphing you into an egg can ruin the strategy if she polymorphs your hitter.

Don’t pack anything extra!- One of the biggest mistakes I see new groups make is trying to insert enough cards for every eventuality. I know that a 4 card deck may seem scary and even downright crazy but packing your deck with extra unneeded cards simply prolongs the battle and can even lead to a failed run. For example lets say that players 1-3 decided to play a myth shield instead of feint: Normally this isn’t a bad idea since Baba Yaga is a Myth boss. However by doing so you will fail to kill Baba Yaga and the next round she will summon her Minotaur Minion-effectively collapsing the strategy.

Don’t be afraid to flee! For whatever reason wizards seem to have a built in aversion to fleeing. I am here to tell you that it’s ok to flee. When you are doing a speed run strategy on a boss like this it is often better to flee than try to salvage the run if something goes wrong. If your hitter joins late and gets turned into an egg it is 100% ok to flee…otherwise you are going to have a bad day.

Don’t be an Eric!!!!!!!As bored as you may become; I do not recommend winging it and/or casting random spells for fun. For example- casting a Zeus Jewel Spell on the round you are supposed to be killing Rasputin will typically end with your teammates beating you about the head and shoulder with lead pipes and/or the nearest blunt objects(Based on a True Story). P.S-beguiling the Life minion to heal your dead teammate after your shenanigans will surprisingly NOT lead to the outpouring of effusive gratitude that the reasonable person might expect.
