This post’s sole purpose is to collect and display the data of every monster available in Monstrology. Because of the sheer amount of monsters available in the entire game, this article will only display those available in these first five words (WC – DS). Duelist101’s 2017 Fansite Festival PvP Bash!

Another year has gone – with many battles done – with old foes and new. New items, new allies, and new spells have all graced our backpacks, and now it’s time to put all your new gadgets to work in our 2017 Fansite Festival PvP Bash!

On Saturday – our event will be starting at 4pm CST (5pm EST, 3pm MST, 2pm PST)– and we’ll be meeting in Unicorn Way in Stormzilla realm – near Diego. Pickups will start 15 minutes before the event is scheduled to start (so 3:45pm CST). We ask that you try to be on time – as it’ll be an hour party (officially, but you’ll welcome to PvP more after the end of the hour, however!). We’ll be giving out some prizes during the party – so keep an eye out on how to snag yourself some nice prizes for yourself.

As always – with our PvP parties, we have some guidelines to follow:

No foul language/cussing – you will be removed immediately – no exceptions.
No cheating or fighting.
Absolutely no rudeness or unsportsmanlike behavior.

There are no specific PvP rules for this bash – so bring what gear you like – what spells you like – and have a great time in some intense PvP!

We also have some prizes donated by KingsIsle for this grand occasion – thank you KI & Sheldon for these nice prizes!

Contest Details:

Just like last year, all you need to do for this contest is post at least one screenshot from the event. It can be anything – a PvP fight, a picture of all your friends, or one with some of us Duelist authors! Every entry will be entered into a random drawing for 2 Shinobi bundles and 2 10k crown codes! The contest will run from when the event officially ends (5pm CST, 6pm EST, 4pm MST, 3pm PST) for 24 hours until 5pm CST on April 9th.

To travel between the three houses, each teleporter has an associated sign to where you will be going, and the Massive Fantasy Palace has teleporters to each of the other houses.

Any in-game contests will be held in the Massive Fantasy Palace – so make sure to check back to see if/what the in-game contests are!

Equipping the previous deck

If you want to quickly change to the deck you had previously equipped, press ‘P’ and click ‘Previous’. This will show you the last deck you had equipped, instead of clicking ‘Next’ until you eventually find it.

Previous Deck Lifehacks

Level 52 Celestia quest, The Special

‘The Special’ is a quest from Ogden Peake in Celestia Base Camp that gives a training point. To complete this quest you need to collect 4 pet snacks that drop from all over the Spiral, and no exact location is given. However, you can simply head over to the Bazaar and buy those pet snacks for a few gold.

Gargantuan treasure card

Additionally, our very own misthead pointed out a neat trick for you guys! If you’re below lvl 58 and looking for one of the best sun spell enchantments you can get, Gargantuan tc is the one for you!

Being that trading Gargantuan tc is not allowed and you have to be lvl 58 to buy it, it is tricky to obtain it. What you need to do is complete the crafting quests till Celestia and obtain the Grandmaster Artisan badge. This will grant you access to the recipe for Gargantuan tc from Avery Templeton in Celestia Base Camp. You will definitely find this convenient if you’re doing Grandmaster PvP or lower.

One in a Million and Elixir Vitae combined

Obtaining these 2 badges in Wizard101 is one of those special moments that will always stay with you. However, did you know you could get them both with one simple trick? One simple spell, Steal Health, combined with every buff you can possibly think of! Duelist101 has already covered this in the past, but looking at all the listed blades and trying to obtain them is no easy task.

Steal Health: One in a Million & Elixir Vitae

This is why I’m changing a minor detail! This technique will take place in a private arena instead of a random boss’ dungeon. The idea behind this is to let a friend put traps on the minion. Let’s get down to the specifics! The requirements for this are:

A reliable friend or team!
A private arena – You will want to put traps on the minion, so that will be your friend’s job who will be on the opposite side of the duel circle.
Water Elemental Minion tc or trained – This minion doesn’t interfere much with this setup. It has no Death Shields and the absorbs won’t matter as this is a drain.
Steal Health tc or trained – If it’s trained, you can enchant it with a Sun School buff like Epic.
Every other spell that buffs death! For this reason, you might want the help of a friendly Necromancer to buff you with death blades and dark pacts. Also the help of a Balance wizard is highly necessary.

Picking the Locks – Captain Hockins

It’s time to take a look at yet another one of the latest arrivals in Wizard101. The RavenTamers aka my wizards have had a busy week cheat testing the new bosses, and this time round I visited Captain Hockins. Trust me, he’s one tough fella! He can be found in Waterfront, Zafaria, right next to the Greyhorn Mercenaries.

Additionally, you will require a Stone Skeleton Key to be able to engage him in a duel. If you want quick and easy ways to obtain stone keys, I recommend visiting some of these spots:

Lower Zigazag – 1st fire boss (Kus’Bhid) + wood key room
House of Scales
Ra
Avalon bosses – Pendragon, Bane Wyrm, etc.

What to expect

Captain Hockins – Rank 12 Death Boss – 5,600 hp

Witch Doctor Enkeezee – Rank 11 Myth Elite – 2,900 hp

Bring your best pierce gear and spells because you will need them, if you wish to win that is. Captain Hockins is immune to all schools but Life. His Life resistance is somewhere in the waters of 85% which is still extremely high. Consider bringing infallible and Extraordinary to this fight if you don’t have access to Shadow Magic (Shadow Shrike) or high pierce gear.

Cheats

At the beginning of round 1, the minion will interrupt and cheat cast a global spell that looks like Saga of Heroes. However, the real effect is still unknown. My suspicion is that the bubble decreases critical. The reason why I came up with this theory is that my storm, who has 100% critical, kept failing to crit repeatedly. Unless, it’s a test realm bug!

If you join the battle late, the minion will interrupt and cast a different version of Mana Burn. This version will steal one of the target’s pips without dealing damage and give that pip to the minion. Additionally, you should know that this spell is a Moon school spell so it cannot be dispelled.

Captain Hockins will say any of these lines whenever damage is dealt on him. This will trigger him to cast a universal pierce blade on the attacker. The thing you need to know here is that the pierce blade increases whenever someone attacks Captain Hockins. First hit, he will give a 10% pierce blade. Every hit after that will keep increasing the pierce blade by 10% until it reaches the maximum of 100%. Once (and if) you reach the maximum the pierce blade will stay at 100% and not reset or keep increasing.

Finally, if you try to change the bubble the minion puts up, it will trigger the minion to cast another one. However, this can be countered by using Vaporize (myth dispel) on the minion or simply defeating the minion.

Strategy

I see 2 possible strategies to defeat this boss. First you can blade up a hitter and the hitter attacks while using spells such as Shadow Shrike, Infallible, and Extraordinary.

On the other hand, you can simply spam. I know that spamming doesn’t sound very appealing, but considering that Captain Hockins provides you with a pierce blade that will keep increasing in value the more he’s hit, it’s a plausible strategy. Just don’t try spamming him with spells that cost a lot of pips at the start of the battle. Save any of those till the end.

Drops

The main unique drop that I was able to record from Captain Hockins is the Pirate Rowboat. This new 2-person mount is remotely similar to the Mystic Skiff found inside the Mystic Fishing Bundle.

Moreover, you can find the level 66 rings that are already dropped from other bosses in Zafaria.

Captain Hockins Conclusion

No badge for defeating him has been recorded so far.

Miscellaneous Updates – Spring 2017

The Spring update notes had so much interesting new major features like Monstrology, but I couldn’t help but notice the smaller updates. There are loads of miscellaneous updates to go through so I picked some of the ones that would interest you the most. Without further ado:

Updated Jewel Packs for lvl 115

This one immediately caught my eye, so one of the first things I did on test realm was buy jewel packs to learn what can now be obtained. Do note that I opened the packs on a lvl 120 wizard. Findings:

a mix between high level and low level jewels
no upgraded pierce jewels
new upgraded universal, accuracy, critical, damage, resist and health jewels

Marleybone Car mount can be dyed

That’s right! Everyone’s favorite new mount can now be dyed which in my opinion is an extremely good move from Kingsisle.

Key Bosses Team Up

Can’t find a team to aid you with a skeleton key boss, or simply are missing the right key? Fear no longer! Team Up is now available for skeleton key bosses!

No Trade restrictions removed and Decks

Most rare gear from Wizard City to Dragonspyre has lost the ‘No Trade’ label including gear from ultra dungeons and one shot dungeons. Which other gear could be affected? Leave a comment below if you wish to share some knowledge on this.

Additionally, there is a small change coming to decks that offer stats. The labels have been pushed to the end like you can see below. This might take some getting used to!

New Undead Badges

Wizard City badges have jumped from 28 to 33! That means that there are 5 new undead badges for us to hunt down. We currently don’t know what the badge titles are but we do know that the next badge requires 4000! How many could the last badge require?

New Dance Emotes and Pet Jumps

There are 3 new member emotes. If you haven’t checked them out yet, what are you waiting for? They are simply amazing! Which one is your favorite? Also, whenever you jump and have a pet equipped, that pet will jump with you. So cute!

Friend List Symbols

Whenever a friend logs in or out, you will start seeing the player name and symbol displayed as a notification. This will help you identify your friends instantly. Of course, for this to work you need to have it turned on from the ‘Settings’.

New Trainable Spells

Our new friends at the Arcanum have some new goodies for us! Not all of them are new but that simply means more spell variety! Conjurers aka Myth wizards can now get another spell for free, Gobbler.

Picking the Locks – Verboten Mimic

This brand new and mysterious boss is something different! Nothing is for sure with this one, except for the fact that it will bring up some memories of old worlds and past enemies. Grab a Gold Skeleton Key and head over to Aggrobah in Mirage. Mimic can be found in a house located in the River District.

Additionally, if you require a gold skeleton key, you can defeat any of the following for a chance of getting one:

What to Expect

Unlike past skeleton key bosses, I’m afraid that for this one you’re going to have to walk in blind. The thing with Mimic is that it mimics! In the image below, you can see Mimic’s true form. It will proceed to polymorph into another form as soon as round 1 starts.

Verboten Mimic

Cheats

This is the tricky part! Mimic will keep changing forms throughout the battle until you either defeat him, or it defeats you. Hopefully the first option! 5 different and familiar forms or polymorphs have been recorded so far as you can see below.

On round 1, Mimic will interrupt and polymorph into one of the random forms below. Then, at the end of every four rounds it will change into another form. Something else I happened to notice on this boss and the other 2 skeleton key bosses is that feints don’t stack on them. Mimic has pip conversion as well.

Gobbler Prince

Rank 18 Moon Boss – 60,000 hp

Gobbler Prince has a cheat cycle that goes like this:

Round 1: Triple Tower Shield on self + Legion Shield + Brace (+20% Resist Aura)
Round 2: Wings of Fate
Round 3: AOE Freeze (Stun)

Luska Charmbeak

Rank 18 Balance Boss – 60,000 hp

This from has the same cheats as Luska Charmbeak from Waterworks. The memories!

Only use single target hits if you have been ‘Inked!’ (have a black mantle on you). Otherwise you can use AOE hits to counter this cheat. Every other wizard that hasn’t been ‘Inked’ will have a 70% feint on them at all times.

If you use negative charms or wards (weaknesses and traps) and single target attacks on Luska or Mimic it will attack back with an enchanted version of Link. This will remove traps but not the ones that were already placed on him before he polymorphed.

Young Cyrus

Rank 18 Myth Boss – 60,000 hp

The boss will proceed to remove any traps that are cast or already on him. This cheat will trigger only from this polymorph.

Mithraya

Mithraya Mimic

Rank 18 Sun Boss – 60,000 hp

Mimic managed to somehow replicate Mithraya and her cheats in Celestia. How come we can’t do that?

The very first thing Mimic will do in this Polymorph is summon a Stellar Protector minion (Rank 17 Star Elite – 6200 hp) that will join on that same round. Also, the minion doesn’t go away when Mimic changes form. Be on the look out for some spells it casts like a star version of Loremaster and a Mana Burn that will take all pips.

In contrast to some of the other forms, Mithraya’s cheats require you to have a charm on you and a trap placed on her or else it will keep spamming -50% black mantles after every move you do. This doesn’t happen when you fizzle.

Ghost Dog

Rank 18 ??? Boss – 60,000 hp

He will immediately summon his minions to join the battle. These minions can be quite harmful if left unchecked. For instance, the fire minion has Burning Rampage.

Hagakure Blade – Rank 17 Storm Elite – 5750 hp
Seijun Killer – Rank 16 Fire – 3550 hp

At the end of Ghost Dog’s first round, he will proceed to cast his infamous Death DoT, but this time he doesn’t detonate it. It’s a slow death for whoever receives it!

Mimic Overview

If you let the battle last too long you might end up in a very sticky situation, so I recommend caution! No wonder Mimic is ‘forbidden’.

Strategy

My recommendation for this battle is to stack blades and simply have one wizard attack. Due to the fact that some of the polymorphs don’t allow traps it’s better not to risk it. Also, there is the fact that feints are currently not stacking as well. Additionally make sure that at least one wizard in the battle is carrying a shatter, whether tc or trained doesn’t matter. This is just in case you get to face the pesky Gobbler Prince.

To conclude, I suggest that before you enter the battle you equip whatever gear provides the best accuracy as you might need it with Luska and Mithraya.

Another test realm has hit the spirals – bringing with it many things, including Monstorology, new key bosses, and even a new spell or two. For this specific article, we’ll be going over an addition to fishing! This update brings 10 new fish, in the theme of … Aquila Fish!

All fishing in Aquila is in the Garden of Hesperides – there is no fishing in any of the three instances. Fish range from rank 1 to rank 3 – so all levels of fishing can fish here!
